Ask Silver Limited (“Ask Silver”, “we”, “our”, “us”) is a company registered in England and Wales (company number 15222944). Our registered office is 1 Mentmore Terrace, The Fisheries, London, E8 3PN. We provide scam-checking services (“Scam Checker”) to help people spot and avoid fraud. We act as the data controller for all personal data processed in connection with our Website and Services, even when our Scam Checker is made available on a third-party website.

2. What this policy covers
This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal data when you use:our Website (www.ask-silver.com), including cookies and analytics; and our Services, including the Scam Checker delivered via WhatsApp, our website, or hosted within partner websites.

3. What the Scam Checker is
“Scam Checker” means our AI-powered tool that analyses content (such as messages, emails, phone numbers or websites) to assess potential scam risks. This includes all versions of the Scam Checker made available by us, whether accessed through WhatsApp, our website, or via third-party partners on their platforms. The Scam Checker is intended to support users’ own research and judgement.

4. Data we may collect
When you use Ask Silver, we collect personal data in two ways

Data you submit directly
When you upload or submit information, we collect the content you provide and any personal data contained within it. This may include:
Screenshots, images or message content
Website links or company details
Financial or account information
Device identifiers or technical metadata included in uploads (e.g. message headers, IP addresses within email content)
Any other personal or sensitive identifiers visible in the material you upload to the Scam Checker

Data provided automatically through your use of the service
When you contact us via WhatsApp, email, or through our Website, we automatically receive certain identifiers such as your phone number, name (as registered in the platform), and email address. We also collect technical data such as IP address, browser type, device information, and interaction logs. We do not seek special category data (e.g. health, biometric, political opinions). If you choose to include it in your uploads, we will process it only as necessary to provide the Scam Checker service you requested.

We use the data you provide to:

We only share data with them where it is necessary for the service, and we minimise the amount of data that is shared. By using the Scam Checker, you consent to the processing of your data by these providers where necessary to deliver the service. Here’s who they are and what they do for us:

Helps us with AI model processing.

OxyLabs – EU
Provides proxy and data collection services.

Sentry – EU
Used for error logging and monitoring so we can keep the service reliable.

Langfuse – EU
Helps us monitor and trace AI outputs to improve performance.

n8n – EU
Used for workflow automation.

Microsoft Azure – UK
Provides hosting and cloud infrastructure (including Azure OpenAI).

Twilio – US
Provides messaging infrastructure, including WhatsApp delivery.

OpenRouter – US
Provides AI infrastructure.

Mailgun – EU
Used to send emails that report scams.

Klaviyo – US
Manages customer communications.

Webflow – US
Powers our website content management and hosting.

International transfers
Data is primarily stored and processed in the UK/EU. In some cases, personal data may be transferred outside the UK (for example, to service providers or partners). Where this happens, we use appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), and we assess the legal and technical protections in destination countries. Where providers do not offer these standard safeguards, we minimise the personal data shared, apply technical restrictions (such as zero-data-retention modes), and only engage providers that we assess as having acceptable privacy and security practices.

9. Data retention
We retain uploaded content and associated personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this policy, including improving and training our services. We may keep data for extended periods to build scam-detection capabilities unless you exercise your rights to deletion. We also retain data where required to comply with legal, regulatory, accounting, or tax obligations, and to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

10. Security
We use technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption, access controls, and regular testing. While we implement appropriate safeguards, no system is fully secure. If we become aware of a personal data breach likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify affected individuals and—where required—the ICO without undue delay.

11. Children
